1) Persistence
There’s some truth to the old saying that if you really want something, then don’t take no for an answer. Successful real estate agents do not give up on a potential seller or a buyer. They know how to walk that fine line between being a pest and being available to the client. Successful agents may send out 300 holiday cards each year without a nibble, but eventually they are contacted by a potential client or by a friend or relative who saw the card. Persistence really does pay off.
2) Listening skills
You can save yourself and your clients time, energy and stress by paying attention to what they say. If a buyer is adamant they do not want to purchase a ranch-style home, don’t waste your or their time by showing them a ranch, even if it’s a gorgeous ranch that you’re sure they’d love.
3) Go the extra mile
You probably would prefer to meet a buyer at the property that’s going to be viewed, or you might prefer to discuss a listing with the sellers in their home rather than at a local coffee shop. However, if your buyer has no transportation or your seller only has lunchtime to finalize paperwork, go that extra mile literally and figuratively.
4) Exude confidence and charm
If an agent appears confident, buyers and sellers will feel they are working with an experienced professional. Your confidence will calm their fears and keep them from doubting your marketing decisions. Release your inner charm and they will respond by trusting your judgment and advice.
5) Stay positive
Successful real estate agents truly believe there’s a buyer for every house. If a house isn’t selling, they stay positive about finding the right buyer. They also are able to share their positive feelings with the client so that the client stays upbeat and hopeful.
