Want to Make Your Open House More Effective? Here are Five Steps to Pull Out all the Stops.

Hosting an effective open house depends upon many factors including careful planning and selecting the proper tools to use. If you want to have a successful open house, you must remember that your main goal is to attract as many potential buyers as possible. Proper selection of such things as brochures and open house signs can very well determine the success or failure of an open house.

1. Yard Signs

While yard signs are one of the most conventional tools used to host an open house, it cannot be denied as to how effective they can be. Statistics show that conventional yard signs are one of the most effective tools in attracting potential buyers to open houses. However, when you use a yard sign, you need to make sure that it is highly visible and has your contact information on it.

2. Directional Signs

While yard signs are essential to the success of an open house, if people do not know how to get to the home, the yard signs will be pointless. Thus, another thing you will want to consider for your open house is directional open house signs. These signs are most effective when placed at busy intersections, with arrows pointing in the direction of the home.

3. Open House Registries

Another essential tool for hosting an open house is an open house registry. By having a registry for visitors to sign, you can obtain potential buyer’s contact information and phone them at a later date. The best place to place the registry is near the front door of the home alongside any brochures you may choose to give out.

4. Brochures

Brochures are also highly effective in most any promotional campaign. However, when you use brochures, you must make sure they are appealing and they contain useful information, pertaining to the property in question. It is always a terrific idea to include pictures of the home and information regarding such things as the area’s schools and shopping. Finally, make sure you include your contact information on your brochures as well.

5. Atmosphere

Just as important as signs, brochures and a registry is the atmosphere of the home during the open house. It is essential that you try to make the house as appealing as possible. You can accomplish this by turning on lights, opening curtains, playing quiet music and offering light snacks. All of these steps will help you host a highly successful open house and may even get you that buyer you want.
