Three Tips to Better Organize Your Day

Promptness and efficiency are the hallmarks of a reliable agent, but with such a hectic schedule it can be difficult to keep on task. Here are a few tips to organize your day successfully and keep your clients feeling like your number one priority.

1. Always plan ahead. While winding down in the evening, take a look at your schedule for the next few days and consider anything you may have missed. Make it a habit to check your schedule every morning, and at certain points throughout the day. The less you leave to chance, the more smoothly things will run. One caveat to this is that you must resist the urge to plan too much. If you find yourself wasting too much time scheduling, you are either under the effects of stress, or don’t have the appropriate scheduling environment.

2. Use your technology. Technology has made massive improvements since the days of the old appointment book. A successful professional will utilize phone, tablet and computer applications to improve their organizational skills. Look for an all-around scheduling tool that can be accessed via multiple platforms and syncs automatically. This means that you can access and modify your schedule from anywhere and that nothing will get lost.

3. Never put anything off, and always take action! If there’s something you can do right away, and you have the time, then force yourself to do it immediately rather than putting it off. This is especially important when making modifications to your schedule, or reminding yourself to contact someone. Too often we write ourselves a mental note to make a call and then forget the moment we walk out the door. If the call can be made now, it should be. If it can’t, then it should be immediately scheduled. The human brain is fallible–computers aren’t.

As long as you build good habits and utilize your organizational tools, your daily task management will steadily improve. With better organization, you will find that not only can you get more done during the day, you will also feel more productive and less stressed.
